BUSINESS

Let there be light !

The Hawkesbury City Chamber of Commerce is a not for profit association which represents the Hawkesbury ’ s Business & Industrial Communities . We aim to provide opportunities for our local business owners to meet and share their ideas in a friendly atmosphere of like minded people . We also seek to represent to local , state and federal governments the issues affecting businesses in the Hawkesbury .
Flood Breakfast brings Community leaders together
The recent floods were the focus of discussion at the March Breakfast meeting .
Political leaders joined with specialist representatives to explain the impact of the floods and the support available , especially for local businesses . Lots of questions and general discussion followed as Chamber members and visitors reflected on the challenge of the flood only 12 months after the last one . The breakfast was well attended and we extend our thanks to all the guest speakers .

Hawkesbury Woodcraft Co- Op ( HWCO ) president , Graham Shakespeare , is enlightened and so too are all the organisation ’ s 84 members !
HWCO was among the 21 projects across the State seat of Hawkesbury to be allocated a share of the $ 400,000 available to the electorate under the NSW Government ’ s 2021 Community Building Partnership Program .
“ Most of our members , such as myself , are , as they say , ‘ getting a bit long in the tooth ’ and our eye-sights are certainly not what they used to be ,” Graham explained .
“ We applied to the grants scheme for $ 8000 to build a storage annex to the main building but more importantly , for us to purchase and install 11 new skylights to improve the lighting in the large workshop .
“ Members work with a variety of electrical cutting machines and tools , and it is imperative that they can do so in complete safety , so the vastly improved lighting provided by the new skylights is of tremendous benefit to all of us .”
Club members used their accumulative knowledge and skills over their long lives to chip in and assemble the new annex ( shed ) and lay the foundations .
Member for Hawkesbury Robyn Preston said the state government funds delivered much-needed improvements to local facilities .
“ This grassroots funding will directly help create a more vibrant and inclusive community with positive social , environmental and recreational outcomes ,” Robyn said .
“ I offer my congratulations to all the organisations that were successful in their applications , and I look forward to seeing how these projects take shape and make a real difference for community groups in the area .”
