Why would you volunteer ? Well , because not all superheroes wear capes !
Expecting no return , volunteers give of themselves , their time , their skills to others and generate incalculable and invaluable good in the world - if that is not heroic , then what is ?
Here at Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre and Community Aid Services Inc . ( RNC ) we believe in building a stronger community together . For over 45 years RNC has delivered on the ground , hands on services that support vulnerable individuals , families , seniors and communities in the Northwest / Blacktown precinct .
Our services and impact would not have been possible without the generous help of dedicated volunteers . We understand first-hand the immense value that volunteers bring . COVID-19 brought its challenges and affected some of our volunteer programs , but the good news is , now is the time to re-establish connections , to revive and to build through our volunteer recruitment drive .
We are seeking wonderful people to join us in helping vulnerable members of the community , now and into the future .
Community Visitors Scheme ( CVS ) We need volunteers for our CVS who can regularly engage with residents in nursing homes to provide them with friendship , companionship and improve the quality of their lives . CVS is funded by the Australian Government to help older people who are socially isolated , lonely

and who may not have regular contact with friends or relatives .
CVS volunteer visits have been shown to have a beneficial positive effect on the older person , increasing their sense of connection and wellbeing and making them feel less alone .
RNC We also need volunteers at the neighbourhood centre to lend a hand with answering our busy phones and helping to transport older clients to medical appointments and shopping . Other jobs include ad hoc support for our community group events , a crew to help keep our outdoor spaces safe and tidy , and with stocking and shelving our food pantry when we receive
donations and supplies .
The intrinsic value of volunteering is undoubtably worthwhile enough , but volunteering can also open a whole new world of possibilities for you . You can gain experience and new skills , meet new people and expand your networks .
