WELCOME TO 2022
The Community Board of Advice ( CBOA ) has already met to commence their planning for 2022 . Even though we , like all others in the volunteer sector , have had to adapt to online meetings , this has not stopped the CBOA from meeting regularly and planning to support the health service on behalf of the Hawkesbury community .
CBOA INVOLVEMENT
The CBOA have allocated roles to the various committees of the hospital including the National Quality and Safety Health Standards Committees which cover Clinical Governance , Partnering with Consumers , Infection Control , Medication Safety , Comprehensive Care , Communicating for Safety , Blood management and recognising and responding to the deteriorating patient . These committees are very important to keeping the standards of the hospital up there with the best .
The CBOA is also on specific hospital committees including the Facilities Management Committee , the Quality Committee , Mission and Culture Committee , and the Workplace Health and Safety Committee .
Each CBOA member puts their heart and soul into these committees as they are passionate about making sure the health services continue to grow and improve .
STAFF AND THE CBOA
The CBOA works together with the staff of the health service and we are delighted to have the staff representative Alison King on the CBOA . Alison is a clinical nurse specialist and Acting Quality Officer and has continued to serve the health service for many years since graduation . Her insight and wisdom into what is happening in the health service is vital to the CBOA . The CBOA is also fortunate to have Hawkesbury District Health Service Chief Executive Officer Strephon Billinghurst as a member . Mr Billinghurst is actively involved in helping steer the CBOA into areas important to the growth of the health service .
25 YEARS OF THE CBOA
As mentioned in this column in December 2021 , the CBOA has been a partner with Hawkesbury District Health Service for now over 25 years . We have been wanting to hold a celebration to mark the 25 years , however Covid has put pay to the many dates we have come up with . Not to be daunted we are discussing future dates in 2022 .
REPRESENTING THE VIEWS OF THE COMMUNITY
A member of our hospital staff who has retired has found some wonderful photos of the day the staff moved from the old hospital to the new and in one of the photos with the cutting of the cake we noted Ruby Wilbow in the background . Ruby has been a volunteer at the hospital for countless years and she is one of the people , along with many others who will be at the 25 year celebration .
Can anybody recognise others in these classic photos ? Does anyone have any photos especially from the old hospital they would like to share with the CBOA . If you have please send a message to cboa @ sjog . org . au .
NEW MEMBERS
The CBOA are after new members to help with their work . We are looking for people who have an interest in the health of all in the Hawkesbury . People from diverse backgrounds are welcome . Please contact our Chair , Mr Barry Adams at cboa @ sjog . org . au if you are interested .
