LOCAL LIFE

MY FAVOURITE PLACE : Cindy Cash

by Greg Martin
My last thoughts before Cindy Cash opened the front door of her Bowen Mountain home were – “ crikey , I wouldn ’ t want to stand still in front of this woman – she ’ d sell me !”.
Cindy could sell oil to the sheiks , ice to the Eskimos and a Weight Watchers program to Clive Palmer .
Fortunately , I can report that after interviewing this salesperson extraordinaire , I left her home without going under the hammer !
Cindy , as anyone who lives in the Hawkesbury knows , sells properties for Ray White North Richmond .
I caught up with Cindy at her Bowen Mountain “ retreat ” which she shares with husband , Michael , four adult children , Alexandria ( and her husband ), Andrew , Abbey and Lachlan .
“ Since the COVID-19 lockdowns , my second favourite place , which is our home , is now number one ,” Cindy explained .
“ Michael ’ s parents , Alan and Carly , live in a lovely home on the headland at Bendalong and ordinarily the family heads down there whenever we can .
“ There ’ s magnificent views out over the ocean , white sandy beaches to walk on , we go fishing and snorkeling and it is just so peaceful . “ It really is our alternate happy place !” But the Sydney Sneeze , Rubella Princess Hoik , Bondi Cough or whatever you want to call COVID-19 , has put a long pause on visits to Bendalong but Cindy
and the entire family are compensated by living in Favourite Place number two .
“ We ’ ve lived here since 2011 and originally it was to be a way station to building another home in the Hawkesbury , but it now looks as though we are here to stay ,” Cindy said .
“ We have put a lot of work into the home and property and couldn ’ t be happier with what we have achieved .
“ It is a very comfortable home but as they say in real estate , it is position , position , position which is the big selling point .
“ There ’ s the spectacular views of course and we spend a lot of time out on the balcony having meals , a morning cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the evenings .
“ The house is at the end of a cul-desac , so we only have to step through a gate and we ’ re in the spectacular Blue Mountains National Park , with its wonderful array of flora and fauna and many walking tracks and fire trails to escape into the wilderness .”
“ We miss going to Bendalong but we ’ re so fortunate to live up here !”
Cindy ’ s skills in selling property have earned her a multitude of awards within the Ray White real estate empire .
She has more awards proudly displayed around the house and the North Richmond Ray White office than Novak Djokovic has won tennis trophies .
Her latest award is a bottler ! Last year she was anointed as a Chairman ’ s Elite agent which places her in the top one per cent of agents across the worldwide Ray
White network . “ As a wife and mother of four I understand the decisions involved in buying and selling a family home , and firmly believe that every vendor deserves to have confidence that their agent will do everything possible to achieve the very best result ,” Cindy explained .
Well over 500 satisfied customers is certainly proof in the pudding !
Cindy grew up in Greystanes and after leaving the local high school , completed a secretarial course at Granville TAFE .
Over the following years she worked in legal offices and in a travel agency , always accruing business acumen .
In 1985 she met fellow 21-year-old , Michael Cash , while both were attending a St John ’ s Ambulance course .
“ We knew we would be together always after just three weeks ,” Cindy laughed .
“ In fact , I knew her was the man for me after our first date .
“ Michael took me to a really nice restaurant and despite my protestations , he insisted I have the most expensive meal on the menu , a lobster salad .
“ It would have cost him a week ’ s wages !”
Michael , who operates MLC Electrical Services , which services major clients within the broadcasting industry , can now afford to always steer his wife away from the sausages and mash whenever they dine out !
When Cindy and Michael ’ s children came onto the scene at two-year intervals ,
Cindy Cash at her favourite place on the balcony of her home at Bowen Mountain .
Cindy had a 10-year break from office work and concentrated working part-time as a fitness instructor , something she had done on a casual basis since she was 18 .
“ Once I moved into sales , I just didn ’ t have the time to continue working as a fitness instructor , but I have kept fairly fit darting all over the Hawkesbury looking after our valued clients ,” Cindy said . “ I am passionate about what I do ! “ I am a very social person and love meeting people and get a real kick out of helping our clients by ensuring I do everything in my power to make the process as comfortable as possible .”
I was just so happy to depart the Cash residence without a For Sale sign hanging on my back !
