Blacktown City FC ready for 2022 season

with Bob Turner Blacktown City FC Executive Chairman
The most recent lockdown took a toll on Blacktown City FC ( BCFC ) as the senior team led the competition - they had just drawn Central Coast Mariners to play in the final 32 round of the FFA Cup .
All that was lost when Football NSW made the decision to cancel all competitions due to the lockdown . The toll on the senior team was extreme when no winner was declared .
They led the competition with five rounds to go , and to be robbed of the championship took weeks for the team to absorb . However , they are determined to continue building their credibility for the 2022 season . Mark Crittenden , head of football , is not wasting time – most of the players are returning and he has appointed coaches , including the first head of women ’ s football .
“ Cancelling the 2021 season has been difficult for everyone in the programme to come to grips with ,” said coach Crittenden .
“ I am ecstatic that we have been able to retain almost all players from this year ’ s squad ; the hunger for the players to maintain the form that led them to the top of the competition will be great ,” he added .
The team may have the potential to play the next round of the FFA Cup once the lockdown is lifted .
Football Australia is hopeful the final round of 32 can be completed by the end of this year . If this goes to plan BCFC will play Central Coast Mariners in November at Lily Homes Stadium .
The board is really keen to build its women ’ s programme up to be as successful as the men ’ s . The team could then capitalise on the Women ’ s 2023 World Cup , which will be held in Australia .
I was bitterly disappointed with the cancellation – a lot of momentum was built up in my first year with the club .
The lockdown has impactful players but just as importantly , administrators . The inability to plan for next season , secure sponsors and build for a new season has made life difficult for all of us .
The next few weeks will determine the future of sport at all levels and fingers crossed the vaccination rates keep growing , which will enable us to get back on the field soon and capitalise on the many inroads built last season .
BCFC comprises a full range of junior teams with elite coaching training three times a week . The pathway culminates with the Under 20 team through to the senior team that has performed at an elite level for 68 years . Currently we have 270 players .
Our city is one of the largest LGAs in the state and to date has no sporting team they can call their own - the club sees an opportunity to become synonymous with the city . It is ready to earn this status and looks forward to the day when people think of Blacktown City FC when the name ,
Blacktown , is mentioned .
The club has all the necessary ingredients for ongoing success ; venue , competition status , history , coaching and a 68-year history of success on the field .
We have been hard hit during the
pandemic . BCFC is doing all it can to restore belief in the community and is determined to achieve that status , and as the slogan says – Blacktown City – ‘ Always Blacktown – Never Backdown ’!
Go Blacktown City !

MINSK MOMENT and ASLAV are in the Waller camp and both showed they are raring to go in finishing in the top two placings in a 900m hit-out at Rosehill on Sept 14 .
ISOLYFE is hard to pronounce but will be easy to back going on her slashing , under a tight hold win in a 900m trial at Rosehill on Sept 14 . Do not miss this one !
VICTORY MOMENTS showed he had a ton of ability with his 2YO trial win over 855 at Kenso on Sept 20 . Showed pace early but eased back to midfield before balancing up an unleashing powerful finishing burst .
MALKOVICH and ROCKETING BY couldn ’ t have been more impressive in filling the top two placings in a sizzling 800m trial at W ’ Farm on Sept 21 . The winner showed blistering speed while Rocketing By ran home powerfully .
HARLEQUIN FIELD finished fourth in a strong 800m trial at W ’ Farm on Sept 21 . The overall time was only fair but the final 600m was slick and this lightly raced 4YO was never out of second gear .
