Is blood zinc level a good measure of zinc deficiency ?

SUFFERING constant BACK PAIN ? Want to ENJOY LIFE again ?

Work & play like you used to after just a few sessions ! with Andreas Klein
I had a patient with numerous symptoms ranging from oesophageal inflammation and sore mouth and throat to insomnia and fatigue . Medical tests had not found the cause of these problems .
The patient had followed a strict vegan diet for some years in an attempt to improve high blood sugar levels . Vegans are at increased risk of zinc deficiency .
Zinc deficiency has wide ranging health effects because zinc is a key component of over 200 body proteins and enzymes .
Many symptoms exhibited by this patient were associated with inadequate systemic zinc levels but tests results showed levels in a normal range . Maybe the patient had a normal serum zinc level but still had zinc deficiency ?
Research was carried out on two groups with taste impairments ; blood serum zinc levels were normal to low . All patients with taste changes had an ACE ratio that was 10 – 13 times that of normal volunteers .
This confirmed that , ‘ ACE ratio may be a more sensitive indicator of zinc nutritional status than measuring zinc concentration in the serum ’. However , there was no correlation of improved blood-serum zinc levels .
The research concluded that the serum-zinc-level which is the main test currently used in clinical practice seems to be a poor tool for determining zinc deficiency .

In this together - Rooty Hill Village

When you visit Anglicare ’ s Rooty Hill Village , you will notice residents ’ smiles , which makes it a nice experience . Raymond , who has lived there for a couple of years now , described it ,“ I can ’ t explain it ; it ’ s just like home . It ’ s a happy place .”
When Raymond and his wife , Madouce , were considering a retirement living village , security and being close to their family were their top priorities . They also wanted to have lots of people around them . What they ’ ve found is friends who have become like family .
As well as enjoying social activities such as the Friday Happy Hour and indoor bowls or shuffleboard , it ’ s the day to day environment that really makes the difference .
“ We help each other . If someone wants something at the shops , whether it is medication , groceries , anything . They just ask , ‘ Do you need our help ?’ and they will come and help ,” explained Madouce .
Fun and friendship at Anglicare ’ s Rooty Hill Village .
The neighbourly kindness that has knit this community together has been particularly noticeable in the recent lockdowns . The village team , led by manager , Paul Carabetta , has been creative .
In addition to regular calls to check in on residents , they ’ ve delivered hot food and organised an exercise program to keep residents healthy and engaged – all from the comfort and safety of their balconies .
“ We want residents to know they are still part of the community , even if we can ’ t be together face-to-face ,” said Paul . “ We are only a phone call away .”
The homes at Rooty Hill Village surround the community centre , BBQ facilities , a children ’ s playground , flat paths that connect the buildings and , the most recent additions , a new community garden and off-leash dog park .
That ’ s right , this village is the perfect place to retire with a furry or feathered friend ! Many of the residents take comfort in having the companionship of a pet and enjoy taking them for walks .
The open-plan apartments all have modern finishes , appliances and air conditioning . There is a

choice of one and two-bedroom layouts , which cater for different needs and circumstances .
Another resident , Maria , appreciates that the village is next to Rooty Hill Station . She decided to move in because she realised being in a large house on her own and not driving anymore was limiting what she could do . She , too , enjoys the social atmosphere but also appreciates the sense of home Rooty Hill Village gives her .
“ I recommend it to my friends because it ’ s a nice place to live . It ’ s a good community and when I come back after being away I get so much pleasure seeing fellow residents again as they have become by friends ,” Maria said ,
“ It ’ s really good that Anglicare gives me the feeling I ’ m home again .” Are you curious about Rooty Hill Village , but restricted due to lockdown or reluctant to be out and about ?
We are still interested in hearing from you and are now offering virtual village tours during these challenging times . We ’ d love to get to know you and see if Rooty Hill Village can meet your needs and wants in a retirement lifestyle .
