Comparison of Cancer in Hawai ‘ i and the United States

• In 2014-2018 , Hawai ‘ i incidence rates were significantly higher than the U . S . overall for the following cancers : colon & rectum , melanoma of the skin , and other biliary in males ; breast , oral cavity & pharynx , uterus / endometrium , and other female genital organs in females ; and liver & intrahepa�c bile duct , stomach , and other diges�ve organs in both sexes .
• In 2014-2018 , Hawai ‘ i incidence rates were significantly lower than the U . S . overall for the following cancers : esophagus and prostate in males ; melanoma of the skin , small intes�ne , vulva in females ; and all cancers combined , bladder , brain & other nervous system , kidney & renal pelvis , leukemia , lung & bronchus , myeloma , non-Hodgkin lymphoma in both sexes .
• In 2014-2018 , mortality rates were significantly higher in Hawai ‘ i compared to the U . S . overall for cancers of the liver & intrahepa�c bile duct in males and cancer of the stomach in both sexes .
• In 2014-2018 , cancer mortality rates in Hawai ‘ i were significantly lower than the U . S . overall for cancers of the esophagus and prostate in males ; cancer of the ovary , breast , cervix in females ; and all cancers combined , bladder , brain & other nervous system , colon & rectum , kidney & renal pelvis , leukemia , lung & bronchus , myeloma , non-Hodgkin lymphoma in both sexes .
