Q: Have you ever had any real life paranormal experiences at Pennhurst? Any you can share?
A: My daughter, a professional photographer, came out to shoot Pennhurst in late August 2011. She brought her 11 month old daughter and took a bunch of photos throughout the show, including the tunnels. As she was exiting the tunnel system, her daughter began waving to the empty corridor and saying “bye bye”. That night, Veronica loaded the photos onto her computer to get them ready for uploading to the website. She awoke from a terrible nightmare to hear the baby screaming in the other room. This went on for over a week, with both of them having night terrors. Finally, Veronica downloaded the photos to a disc and erased them from her computer and the nightmares abruptly ceased.
Another guy, who drives tractors at the Bates Motel, took his 12 year old and 14 year old daughters to Pennhurst. A few minutes after leaving the parking lot, he realized his headlights were off. The parking area is very dark and he couldn’t understand how he had forgotten to put them on. As soon as he turned on his lights, his car stereo began to go up and down in volume. His girls questioned him and he said he hadn’t touched his radio. He shut off the stereo, and immideatly they were overcome by a dank, musty smell. One of his girls cried that it smelled like the tunnels at Pennhurst. Anyway, they finally arrived home to find a note to call his mother. The guy picks up his house phone and punches the speed dial for mom. The phone blinks a message that no number is stored.
