Those who wanted to be a jockey
must decide wholeheartedly to
consider this kind of sport as a serious
career. The requirements on both
physical, mental and also emotional
strength are definitely tasking.
As part of her daily routine and
training, Cheche begins with warming
up exercises. She works out hard and
warms down to regain heart pressure.
She stays fit in her sports by everyday
practices.
“I like the sport because it builds
my confidence and since it is an
individual sports, I can do my very best
in achieving my goal standing.” Her
older sister inspires and motivates her
and there’s something in her heart that
pushes her more, it is the competition
and the winnings that go with it.
For Cherilyn or “Cheche”,
swimming is a kind of life-saving sports.
Swimming gives her that unexplainable
“high” that made her competitive, firm
and assertive. There are too many rules
in swimming but the most important
rules, she said, are the following:
Stay on specific lane while on swim
1. If you are already done, get out of
the pool
2. Always stay in your lane line
3. Body tape is prohibited in swimming
competition , and the;
4. Necessary equipment such as swim
cap, swimsuit, goggle, hand paddle,
pull buoy, kickboard, fins, and snorkel
must be organized.
Marimar is a track and field athlete,
who made this sports as her passion to live. It is
not surprising that she has such skills because her
father was a former athlete, too. She started on
this when she was a third grader, joining various
competitions. At age 17, she garnered seven
gold medals from Municipal meets.
My father inspires me; encourages me on this
sport.”
To help her stay physically fit, Marimar regularly
warms up, stretches, drills then cools down. She
eats nutritious foods, an essential part to maintain
her fitness. She is also involved in various running
sports.
sports.
“Running for me is so much fun and
interesting. It’s good for the health. It gives
strength and develop s a strong body. It
provides a sense of self-worth by making one
feel good. The reduction in high blood pressure
by 50 percent is an awesome treat. Running also
increases the activity of enzymes and hormones,
making the heart work more efficiently. “You
don›t need a lot of equipment for this kind of
sport. What is important is the discipline and skills
one has,” Marimar said.
Some of the tips for the aspiring is to
observe proper body positioning and drills; to
wear proper attire specifically jersey and cycling;
and discipline himself on the rules.
“The hardest part for me is the sprint event
because it makes use of techniques in order to
win.
Asked about the hardest in
swimming and Cheche shared that
it is the butterfly stroke she needs
to prepare arduously. The delivery
needs long term training to perform it
perfectly.
Circuit racing focuses on
your ability to handle and control a
racing car against other competitors
on the race track. It’s different because
it’s largely very technical in a wholly
different sense, as you’ll have to
consider not only physical and mental
fitness of the participants, but also on
the correct techniques to achieve the
speed around the track in a race car,
the mechanical performance and
capabilities of the cars themselves, as
well as the different conditions of the
track, your competitors, among others.
Circuit racing in Formula cars
is the same in a lot of ways as in other
forms of auto circuit racing using stock,
sports, touring or GT cars, and even
motorcycles. At the same time,
however, it’s different in a lot of ways
as well. First of all, Formula cars are
single-seat, open-wheel cars vastly
different in performance and handling
characteristics to sports, touring or GT
cars currently racing here in the country,
since they’re lighter and really dedicated
to performance on the race track.
For me, the main difference with most
circuit cars is that formula cars give you a
lot more feedback on the road and what
the car is doing, how it’s performing, and
personally it gives you a really different
excitement.
As a passionate car enthusiast I was
really into cars to begin with, and no doubt
my desire to always pursue the maximum
performance of every car in the regulated
competitive environment of professional
racing drove me to race cars. I always felt that
somehow driving was a God-given talent and
desire I had, and it was a shame never to explore
it to the fullest.
Aside from the Macau race, much of
my previous and current racing background
revolves around racing locally. In the future,
well, ibang usapan na ‘yan. If motorsports is your
dream, stay focused on it and no matter what,
you enjoy what you do.
