Ice Ice Baby
Treat friends and family to delicious and unique flavours with
these ice cream makers
T
here are basically three
options for making your
own ice cream at home.
It’s possible without a
machine but involves lots of
taking the semi-frozen mixture out
of the freezer every 45 minutes or
so and beating it over the course
of several hours. The two main
types of machine divide along cost
and time. More expensive models
incorporate their own freezing
element which speeds up the
process considerably and means
you can make ice cream from
scratch in around 40 minutes
Cheaper models require a little
more preplanning and feature a
bowl that needs to be stored in
the freezer. You take it out and
put your ice cream mixture into
it and the machine will churn it
for you using thin blades to scrape
the frozen layer of liquid from the
inside of the bowl over the course
of 20-40 minutes to produce your
ice cream.

The Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker
The creamier the mix, the thicker it churns. So if you want to
make something more delicate, like a sorbet or yoghurt, an ice
cream maker needs constant supervision. The Smart Scoop
is the very first maker that automatically senses how hard the
mixture is depending on your setting selection then keeps it
at the right consistency for up to three hours. There are 12
hardness settings to choose from so you can select sorbet, frozen
yoghurt, gelato and ice cream. Either use the pre-set automatic
programs or set it to manual for ultimate control. It even plays
music when it’s ready, just like an ice cream van!
Judge 1.5 Litre Ice Cream Maker
After freezing the bowl in your freezer for
approx 8 hours before use, this machine will
give you quick-to-make ice cream, sorbet or
frozen yoghurt in 20-40 minutes. The clear
lid with ingredient funnel means you can
add ingredients while the motor is running
for a perfect consistency. It’s fully automatic
with one-touch operation
