Spring is sprung, a glorious
summer now beckons (we
hope), and we are entering
the period where I can enjoy
one of my favourite pastimes
– barbecues. My mouth is already watering at the
prospect of juicy ribs, homemade burgers, grilled
halloumi and charred corn cobs and peppers. This
ties in nicely with the second phase of our centenary
celebrations - Barbecues & Outdoor Dining.
In this issue, we share some barbecue tips, from
creating a tasty coleslaw to rubs, seasonings and
marinades, all designed to excite the tastebuds.
You can also find out how some of great chefs add
sparkle to their own outdoor dining.
One of our key trade partners, KitchenAid is
also celebrating their Centenary in 2019, and we
have chosen their very special and limited edition
‘Queen of Hearts’ range as our Kitchen Icon. I am
sure this should be ‘Queen of Harts’!
The famous Boogie-Woogie Festival is coming to
Dorset again this year, an event that has gained a
huge following from around the world, and Harts
of Stur are the main sponsor.
As part of this town-wide musical extravaganza,
on the afternoon of Saturday 6th July a piano
will be set up at our store, and two very talented
boogie-woogie musicians will get your toes tapping
with their infectious rhythms. We’ll be hosting a
free barbecue during the afternoon, so pop in and
try one of our locally produced Centenary Burgers
together with our special Boogie-Woogie relish!
See six of our long serving staff on page 3 who
have clocked up a massive 125 years service
between them. And they all look so young, well
most of them.
I hope you enjoy this issue packed full of seasonal
ideas and showcasing lots of lovely new products.
