O
f course, you don’t need a machine
to make coffee. Cafetieres are the
simplest way to upgrade your
coffee from instant to something a
little more refined. Also known as a French
Press, you simply spoon in your ground
coffee, top up with hot (not boiling) water,
leave a few minutes to brew and then plunge
the filter lid to push the grounds to the
bottom and leave your coffee ready to drink.
All you need to decide on is what you want
your cafetiere to be made of, from plastic to
stainless steel and how many cups you want
to be able to make. When using a cafetiere it’s
best to use a coarser grind of coffee. Anything
too fine will taste bitter.
