3 Unique F DIY Ideas avors for a wedding are an important part of saying thank you to your guests and family for helping to make your big day as special as possible. However, sometimes wedding favors can become a little too costly to purchase. It's a breach of etiquette to have no favors however. This is why do it yourself wedding favors have become so popular. It might sound a little overwhelming to put together all your own wedding favors. But with these ideas you can find it will be fun, inexpensive, and easy. 1. Homemade Cookie Mix. Find a good scratch cookie recipe, one that you enjoy making, and prepare all the dry ingredients in separate bowls. Then portion out the dry ingredients for a full cookie recipe into quart-sized glass jars. This will form attractive layers of ingredients. It's really great to use a recipe that calls for m&ms because they will add a pop of color to the mix. Print out the cookie recipe, complete with wet ingredient list and instructions, and attach it to the jar. A cute lacy circle of fabric can be bought at most major craft stores; can be tied over the screw down lid for a finished, festive look. 2. Candy Hearts Wreaths. For this you will need several pounds of individually wrapped hard candies, some thin, flexible wire, a pair of pliers and several wire coat hangers or a length of thicker wire. Bend a section of wire into a small heart, leaving a small length at the top that can be fashioned into a hook or loop. Then string the candy on to the flexible wire and wrap it around and around the wire heart. You can select candy colors that match your wedding colors, or favorite candies of the bride and groom. This is a time consuming favors so it's better for only smaller weddings. 3. Promise Boxes. You will need some small paper or cardboard favor boxes, wrapping paper and supplies, pens, confetti, and small sheets of easy to fold paper. Start by writing out brief inspirational messages on as many sheets of papers as there are guests. It can be “good luck in 20__”, a meaningful religious text or quote, or a fortune cookie style prediction. Then fill each box with a pinch of sparkly confetti, a fortune, and wrap it up. These will make neat little surprises for your guests. There are many other wedding favor ideas, so many in fact that it can become overwhelming. There are a few items that should probably not be given however. Bath salts, soap, and perfume can potentially cause allergies for your guests. Likewise, it is in bad taste to give gifts that even subconsciously suggest the guest need to take a bath. If there are children coming to your wedding you should also keep in mind that small favors can pose a choking hazard. Doing a brief internet search can help you come up with more wedding favor ideas that you can easily do at home. Always keep in mind that it's the thought of the favor that really matters the most.
