The Town of Nutter Fort was founded in 1923 , named after the Nutter family , who operated a fort here , said to be at the location of the RW High School building . Nutter Fort is home to approx . 1650 people , has an ISO 2 fire department , EMS service , and a professional police department including 2 K9s . Nutter Fort distributes its water , collects sewage , trash , and recycling , and maintains nearly 12 miles of streets . We are home to Clarksburg City Park with lighted ball fields , an indoor baseball practice facility , and a modern playground . Many thriving businesses call Nutter Fort Home . We will be celebrating our centennial on Aug 26 , with many events planned for the day . We are located on one of the busiest 2 lane highways in the county and are home to the largest grade school with approx . 1300 students . We have 6 churches , 2-day care centers , 4 banks , a dog day care center , 2 dentists , 2 chiropractors , 2 physical therapy centers , and 2 gas stations . a drug store , a supermarket , many restaurants , and lots more establishments . More businesses are coming , so watch for the progress .
The City of Stonewood was incorporated on December 17 , 1947 , making 2022 their 75th Anniversary . Fire Department : enjoys an ISO rating of 2 . Company 12 provides all types of emergency services . Assists the public with placements of smoke detectors , control burn permits along with assisting code enforcement on fire and accident prevention . And monitor fire drills and pre plans with the school . Police Department : is very visible protecting and serving the community and portraying a positive presence with the school , parks , businesses , Churches and the public at large . Both departments work together and have a great working relationship . Public Works : maintains water , sewerage & garbage utilities , along with maintaining parks , city properties and streets . As well as aiding the fire department on emergency calls . The public can seek assistance with notary services , faxing needs , and any other clerical functions they might otherwise not have access to . The former location of the Pittsburgh Plate Glass factory is now an industrial park that has easy access to both US 50 and Interstate 79 several businesses are located within but additions are always welcomed . Norwood Elementary School has educated the community for more than 4 generations and is the heart of our town .
Founded in 1818 , this quiet , friendly residential town of 452 citizens is one of the oldest towns in the county . More than 360 people chose the pretty town of Lost Creek for their homes . Its location along Interstate 79 makes it an easy commute to the business and industrial sites nearby . The town is named for an early settler who lost his life by the creek that runs through the area . Lost Creek has an active community building . One of West Virginia ’ s newest wineries , Batton Hollow Winery is in Lost Creek . The Lost Creek ’ s Community Building hosts various events throughout the year . The City of Bridgeport ( Pop . 9,336 ) is located conveniently in North Central West Virginia , two hours north of the State Capital , Charleston , WV , and two hours south of Pittsburgh , PA .
