Our Story...

The Power of improvisation

At Freenotes Harmony Park, our design philosophy centers around unlocking the full potential of musical instruments through the power of improvisation. Research has shown that improv goes well beyond music itself and influences creativity, communication, and critical thinking.
Founded in 1995 by Grammy Awardwinning musician Richard Cooke, Freenotes Harmony Park™ was born from the desire to make music accessible to everyone. Inspired by his own journey of learning to play music instinctively, Cooke created outdoor instruments that break down barriers of time, cost, and talent. These beautifully crafted instruments invite people of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of making music effortlessly and instinctively.
By intentionally crafting our instruments to eliminate the“ wrong” notes and remove the barriers of traditional music design, we empower everyone— regardless of skill level— to experience the joy of spontaneous musical expression.
This approach fosters connection and creativity in communities, allowing people to explore and celebrate the boundless possibilities of music as a universal language.
