Harlem was the birthplace of Jazz but without nightclubs like Connie's Inn, The Cotton Club and Smalls Paradise it couldn't have evolved into what it is today. These nightclubs brought people in with the allure of illegal alcoholic beverages but kept them because of the great live entertainment.
