“Right now many small businesses are struggling, and with stores closing, more are looking to bring their business online. Our goal is to make shopping seamless and empower anyone from a small business owner to a global brand to use our apps to connect with customers. That’s why we’re launching Facebook Shops and investing in features across our apps that inspire people to shop and make buying and selling online easier.”

During quarantine, Pinterest has seen a rise in popularity of online activities such as planning virtual birthday parties, engagement celebrations, or baby showers. The company responded by revealing new board features that make it easier for those planning meals or virtual events.

Users are now able to add personal notes to saved pins, e.g. a shopping list to accompany a pinned recipe or a list of tasks to plan a birthday party. In addition, boards can now be organized by dates.

Also new is the ability to add sections to a board. For example, if you’ve created a board for lunch ideas, you can now categorize Pins into sections such as “vegetarian entrées,” “fish and seafood,” or “meat and poultry.” Even better, Pinterest suggests sections as soon as you add your first pin.
