Downtime and Balance
It’s very important that you find a work/play balance
when you are starting something from the ground up.
If all you do is surround yourself with work, you will burn
out and get nowhere in the end. The Universe is all
about balance, so if you want to put in long, sleepless
nights towards your business, you better schedule in some
long, sleep-filled mornings. Have some fun too. Don’t forget to
feed your soul!
Ask for help!!
Find a support system
I find that a lot of my procrastination comes from feeling stuck and lost.
If I am stumped with a problem, I’d rather push it aside and look for just about anything else to do. Here is where it is so important to turn to others for help.
Not only is Drew an emotional support, but he is business savvy and so knowledgeable with sales. As I mentioned before with acting, I have a fear of rejection so approaching stores to carry my products gives me great anxiety. By asking him to help with this aspect, I’ve relieved a lot of stress
and freed up much more time to
build the brand and focus on the product. I am also very fortunate to have a wizard for a brother who understands social media and marketing because quite frankly, I’m a bit useless when it comes to it all.
My brother, Bear, has been extremely helpful in answering all my questions and even explaining to me about Instagram promotions and marketing. Don’t get me wrong, I am FAR from mastering it, but it is no longer a struggle to get motivated when it comes to self-promotion. My advice here is to not be shy and reach out to people who have skills – no matter if you know them personally or simply follow them virtually. They are more often than not happy to help.
