The Hands-Free Hippie hip bag had been in my brain since 2012, after having my daughter, then son, and running out of hands. I really started working on the bag design and business plans in 2016 when my fourth baby was a year old and I desperately needed a creative outlet. - MICHELLE

She describes going through an extremely difficult point in her marriage when having the creative outlet of launching the business was therapy. “Creating this bag and this brand during such a tough time in my life saved me. It’s what I turned to instead of getting lost in my head. It was such a healthy outlet that I enjoyed so much.”

Glover spent two years looking for a manufacturer and tweaking the bag’s design while working full-time and saving up money for prototypes. “I wasn’t sure how or even when I would be able to afford mass production. Then in 2018, I stumbled upon iFundwomen online and I was all in!” With limited funding options, Glover used the crowdfunding option as her way to launch her brand. “It made so much sense to me!”

iFundWomen.com is a crowdfunding platform that also offers grant opportunities, business coaching, and networking. Although Glover worked on the launch of her business solo, she did have help in the crowdfunding department. “iFundWomen held my hand the entire way. They are pros! They know what works. Don’t get me wrong, I put in ALL the work but they provided spreadsheets, coaches, and every bit of helpful info you need for a successful campaign.”

Glover learned it was important to have good incentives for donations at all price points. “Someone may want to give you $10 while another person wants to give $500. I found the best rewards were my bag and anything related to the brand itself.” Glover included rewards like a Hippie Brand Co. playlist, t-shirts, hats, and a photoshoot for big spenders. “Ultimately, most people are supporting you and choosing to

‘donate’ to your

campaign, so

anything they

get in return

is a nice

bonus!”
