My name is Rebecca Uriarte (pronounced U-R-Tee). I have been a cake decorator for 20 years and have been drawing and painting for 30 years. I was born and raised in California, then moved to Pennsylvania for ten years, where I was married and had my two girls. After ten years of marriage, I moved back to CA and got a divorce, now I am happily remarried and have two more step daughters. So yes my poor husband has to live with five women in the house. We are busy working parents, juggling jobs and the children's school activities. After years of always encouraging and telling people that everyone has a gift that they were born with and that they have to find that gift and make use of it, I started to ask myself, " What is mine?". I kept repeating to myself that all I knew how to do was make cakes and paint. Then it hit me: I know how to paint and draw. I took my own advice and set up and Etsy shop last year. Being able to create something handmade from my imagination and then sell it is all I have ever wanted in life; I just never had the courage. I now wake up at 3 am every morning and get to creating. It's the only quiet time I have!
