What first inspired you to start making towel wraps?

Being a plus size woman, there are a lot of limitations on clothing options. Believe it or not, "one size does NOT fit most." I wanted a towel wrap that didn't gap in the front, and I also loved the idea of the mommy and me towel wraps. I also liked the idea of being able to choose the color of towel wrap and ribbon to make it my own.

What was the biggest obstacle you faced getting your new business up and running?

I would have to say the biggest obstacle was the machines that I use. I started with a towel, ribbon, and a $300 sewing machine. The idea was there; the need was there, but the money wasn't there for all of the machines.

Who is your target market?

I have a very broad target market, and I think that is why social media is difficult for me. My main target market would be women between the ages of 25-50. However, I also market to grandmothers and college age women.

Since its conception, how has your business grown and developed?

Wow, I could write a book on this question alone. In the beginning, I had one very cheap sewing machine and a dream of selling a few towel wraps to see if anyone would even like them. No social media, no advertising, HORRIBLE pictures, and bad copy. How did I even sell that first towel wrap?! Slowly my business grew into adding embroidery, finishing off seams, and thinking my product was actually something someone would want. I began to develop my sizing and have ended up with sizes from 2T - 5XL. Then Flourish was born, and I joined thinking “What the heck, maybe I could grow a little.” HOLY COW! Today my shop is literally doing ten times what I was doing last year, and I have learned to believe in my business and myself as a business woman. I know my target market and am developing my own website. I guess you would say I am a true businesswoman now, not just a thought.
