for halal Malaysia ’ s halal industry is projected to contribute 8.1 per cent to the GDP

THE government has allocated RM92mil to develop the country ’ s halal industry , according to Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz .

At the tabling of Budget 2023 , the Finance Minister said the government would proceed with the Tanjung Manis Halal Centre Development Project in Sarawak , which is expected to be completed next year with an allocation of RM59mil .
He added that RM8mil would go towards the promotion of halal products in the global market via the establishment of a Malaysia Services and Halal programme .
There will also be an allocation of RM6.5mil towards a halal industry development initiative for raising compliance to halal certification and adapting to halal innovation .
Lastly , he said RM2.5mil would go towards a halal endowment for SMEs to implement an onboarding programme for persons with disabilities who wish to venture into halal businesses .
Malaysia ’ s halal industry is projected in RMK-12 to contribute 8.1 per cent to the GDP and generate RM56 billion in export earnings by 2025 . To spur the development of the halal industry , RM92 million is :
• to continue the Halal Hub Center Development Project in Tanjung Manis , Sarawak , which is expected to be completed next year with an allocation of RM59 million ;
• implementing the Malaysia Services and Halal Global programme to promote halal products in the global market with an allocation of RM8 million ;
• implement halal industry development initiatives to increase compliance with halal certification and adapt halal innovation with an allocation of RM6.5 million ; and
• introduce Waqf Halal PKS OKU to implement an onboarding programme for OKU who want to venture into halal business with an allocation of RM2.5 million . A total of RM1.5 billion was also allocated for managing and developing Islamic religious affairs .
Zafrul said the government would allocate RM150 million for the maintenance of education facilities under the Islamic Development Department ( Jakim ), including religious , tahfiz and pondok schools .

takmir teachers , ( and mosque leaders ) imam , bilal , siak , noja and marbut .
“ A total of 72,000 people will benefit , with a total allocation of RM36 million ,” he said when tabling the 2023 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat .
Every year , the government provides nearly RM700 million in monthly allowance payments to Imams , KAFA teachers , and Takmir teachers as they play a critical role in educating our children and preaching Islam at the community level .
