“ These five core clusters encompass a diverse range of industries , from aerospace to pharmaceuticals , which have the most significant potential to drive economic growth in the short and long term .
“ Furthermore , the F & B cluster is one of the fastest-growing industries , particularly the halal market , which has the potential to boost the State and national economies significantly .”
Selangor ’ s F & B industry
According to Invest Selangor Berhad , the F & B sector , which is Selangor ’ s fifth-largest industry , has attracted more than RM12 billion of investment throughout the years and produced over 33,000 job opportunities in the food manufacturing sector . Meanwhile , the beverages sector has attracted about RM 1.3 billion of investment .
Many larger companies in Selangor have been producing food products for decades , successfully catering to domestic and international markets . Furthermore , several SMEs also export their food products to regional markets .
The State ’ s F & B cluster is growing thanks to a favourable business environment , which includes robust infrastructures , significant local and foreign multinational companies , access to a low to the medium-skilled workforce , an important domestic food market demand , and diverse SMEs .
