BIDDING
Bidders in a previous auction do not need to register again- simply log in with the email and password used to create the account . If you experience internet problems , call us to check and place bids . Changes to your method of payment or entry of a new credit card number may be done by signing in , clicking on the “ My Account ” tab , and then making your changes including email and postal address . Outbid notices are emailed any time you are outbid on an item . Bids are NOT accepted via email or social media on closing days .
BIDDING INCREMENTS
The first bid received equaling or exceeding the opening bid becomes the high bid . If an item already has an opening bid or higher bid , the next bid must exceed the highest bid by 10 %*. Bids are posted in real time on our website www . hakes . com . You may call between 9:30AM and 5:30 PM Eastern , Monday-Friday to learn the current high bid on any item .
Internet Bidding on our website www . hakes . com is highly recommended . Bidders can place bids , see the current high bids , search keywords and more on our site that is updated in real time . Clicking the “ Time Left ” column on any page of our website will organize items by time remaining . This is the best way to monitor when items could close .
INTERNET BIDDING METHODS
1-Enter the opening bid , if still available , or the next lowest acceptable bid shown on the screen .
2-Enter a Confidential Maximum Bid authorizing Hake ’ s to execute your bid at the lowest amount possible to be the high bidder and only if necessary .
PHONE BIDDING opens at 9:30 AM ET on the published closing date of the auction ( Tuesday , Nov . 19 , 2024 for items # 1-599 and Wednesday , Nov . 20 , 2024 for items # 600-2067 . Due to the influx of calls on auction closing days , phone bidders are encouraged to bid early to avoid any potential last minute technical issues .
MAIL & FAX BIDDING All mail and fax bids have been discontinued as of October 2022 .
TELEPHONE CALL BACKS will be accepted on any item beginning at 9:30 AM Eastern on the published closing date of the auction . You must be the high bidder on the item to request a call back . You must be available to receive a call the entire closing day at the phone number provided , as we could call at any time . If you do not answer we will leave a voice mail ( if possible ) and the call back request will be removed from our system .
Bidders have the final responsibility for monitoring the status of their bids .
AUCTION CLOSING PROCEDURE Twenty Minute Rule Goes Into Effect At 9:00 PM Eastern
All items are on INDIVIDUAL timers . Each item will close once its 20 minute countdown clock expires .
Each item will close when it has not received a new bid for a period of 20 miniutes after 9:00 PM Eastern on the published closing date of the auction . The soonest any item will close is at 9:20 PM Eastern on the published closing date of the auction .
Items that have not received any bids by 9:20 PM Eastern will close .
If the current high bidder raises their maximum bid once the 20 minute rule is in effect , the clock on that individual item will NOT reset . The 20 minute countdown clock will only reset when competing bids are placed after 9:00 PM Eastern on the published closing date of the auction .
The entire auction will close automatically when 20 minutes pass after the last bid is placed and no new bid is placed on any auction item . At that point , no new bids will be accepted after the auction closes and each lot will be awarded to the highest bidder .
At its sole discretion , Hake ’ s Auctions reserves the right to extend the bidding , reset the 20 minute clock or reopen an individual item at any time .
INVOICES
Invoices are emailed / mailed to all bidders no later than the Monday following the closing date . Information about winning bids cannot be provided via telephone until that same following Monday .
SHIPPING
We ship in the order paid — first in , first out . Thus , we begin charging orders as instructed by customers after entire auction has closed and continue to fill orders as they are paid . Please make sure your shipping address is updated prior to the close of the auction . Doing so after the close of the auction may result in a package not being delivered to the correct address . It is the bidder ’ s responsibility to make sure their mailing and shipping address is updated . Without exception , all special requests for “ Rush Delivery ” will incur a charge of $ 30.00 plus any additional shipping fee associated with the expedited shipment . Overall , our goal is to ship all orders within 15 business days of payment . Allow four weeks from the day you send payment before calling to check on the status of your order .
LOSS OR DAMAGE Contact Hake ’ s immediately by phone or email .
DAMAGE : Contact Hake ’ s immediately upon receipt of delivery to shipping address on your auction invoice . Hake ’ s is not responsible for damage to package / items if a freight forwarder is used by bidder subsequent to package being delivered to address on auction invoice . Keep all packaging ( shipping box , packaging materials ) as well as the damaged item itself . Hake ’ s will then contact the carrier ( UPS , USPS ) to start the claim process .
LOSS : If a package is lost we will contact the Postal Service or UPS and request a package tracer . The purpose of the tracer is to provide proof of delivery or if unable to prove delivery , request a claim for loss . Reimbursement for loss or damage will not occur until the claim process has been concluded which could take up to four weeks or more .
MASTERCARD / VISA / DISCOVER / AMERICAN EXPRESS CHARGE PAYMENTS
If you wish to charge , make sure the address in our files matches the address of record on file with the card issuer . We will not automatically charge the order unless you have requested to be listed as a Preferred credit card user prior to the close of the auction . Internet bidders using a charge card should select the preferred credit card payment option on the registration form , should they wish to have a Preferred card on file . It is the responsibility of the customer to insure the credit card on file for use has a valid expiration date .
LAYAWAY TERMS
Layaway terms are available on invoices of $ 1,000.00 or more . Send one third of the total amount no later than two weeks after the close of the auction . Please contact us prior to the first closing day of the auction should you choose to exercise this option . The remaining balance is due within the next 30 days . The deposit is not refundable for any reason and no exchanges can be made . Items will be shipped when paid in full . The buyer ’ s premium discount IS NOT applicable for invoices utilizing the layaway option . An interest charge of 1.5 % per month will be applied to layaway balances that exceed the lay-away due date by 30 days or more . If there is a balance still due beyond 75 days of the original payment due date , the deposit is forfeited and the items returned to our inventory .
