Gandhi may have put it more elegantly with his dictum,“ Become the change that you want to see in the world,” but pop culture’ s“ walking the talk” more concisely captures the age-old maxim of practice what you preach. It’ s a quality embodied by the educator-artist, a breed of instructor that undoubtedly benefits avid students— and one that the region seems to enjoy a profusion of. The question is, how does the doing— the painting, the drawing, the sculpting, the imaging, and their elaboration and exhibiting— specifically translate into teaching and learning advantage and why?
