Baltimore Ravens Running Back Bernard Pierce hosted a meet and greet in March with the children of Hagerstown. The Baby Sitter, an enrichment center and party rental venue, partnered with the nonprofit Lead4Life to provide the children a chance to interact with Bernard, listen as he answered their previously submitted questions, and take pictures with him. SONGS OF PEACE
Hagerstown native and Vino Nuevo Pastor Ronette Davis released her debut CD in March. A little more than a year ago, Ronette spent most of her time at the hospital bedside of her husband Curtis, who had been diagnosed with cancer and given a bleak prognosis. She translated her feelings and emotions from her journal during that time into the songs on“ Peace in His Presence.”“ Peace in His Presence” is available online and at Gateway Ministries in Williamsport.
PROGRAM RECEIVES TRAUMA AWARD
Meritus Medical Center won the American Trauma Society, Maryland Division’ s Distinguished Service Award for 2013, in recognition of the trauma center’ s efforts to support distracted driving awareness and reduction, as well as occupant safety, for greater Hagerstown’ s youth. Through the leadership of Susie Burleson, manager of Trauma Services at the hospital, Meritus Medical Center has been visible statewide in efforts to participate in quality injury prevention campaigns.
