Writer and fly-fishing expert Lefty Kreh shows off an enormous pike— one of many memorable catches from his countless local and global fishing adventures.
fond memories of taking his sons on fishing adventures when they were youngsters.“ We loved camping on Fifteen Mile Creek west of Hancock.” He also recalls the time his youngest son fell in the water just minutes before fishing season commenced as they waited on the banks of Beaver Creek. Bob patiently took his son back to the car, got him changed, and back to the creek edge.“ Everyone by then was done— we may have missed out during the morning, but we all managed to get some later that day.”
BIG THRILL Keirston Rinehart loves the thrill of reeling in big trout.“ My most memorable catch was in April last year. I was fishing along Antietam Creek, and out of nowhere I had a hit. I couldn’ t believe my eyes, but I had caught a beautiful 24- inch brown trout. I had fished that area for years and never caught a trout, but I never gave up!” Beaver Creek holds a significant place in her heart as it is one of the local places she fishes with her family and because it is easily accessible and convenient. Keirston also loves Antietam Creek:“ You have greater odds of catching bigger trout there. I’ ve caught some of the biggest trout of my life there. It’ s such an amazing thrill reeling in a big one!” §
