( 1) Saint Maria Goretti High School senior Alexis Barone was a featured vocal soloist during the Hagerstown Municipal Band’ s Holly Jolly Christmas Show at The Capitol Theatre.
( 2) Sixteen churches in downtown Hagerstown participated in the second annual Houses of Worship Holiday Tour. Christ’ s Reformed Church on West Franklin Street included abundant poinsettias and lighted Christmas trees on its altar.
( 3) Founded in 1818, the Asbury United Methodist congregation is the oldest African American church in Hagerstown.
( 4) Robert Eyer Jr., former glee club director at Chambersburg Area Senior High School, accompanied the band on the Capitol Theatre’ s Moller Pipe Organ.
( 5) Christmas flowers and candles highlight the stunning high-Gothic altar in the sanctuary of St. John’ s Parish, Episcopal. A variety of docents were available along the tour to offer historical and architectural interpretation for participants.
( 6) Directed by Lynn Lerew, the 50-member Hagerstown Municipal Band performed holiday favorites including“ Grown-Up Christmas List” and“ Nutcracker Suite” during a holiday spectacular capped by an appearance by Santa.
