EVEN MORE ON TAP Open seven days a week, the restaurant has already built a local following. The staff says they have a following of about 30 people who come in every other day.“ Our regulars are getting to the point where they can tell who made the soup that day,” says Steve.“ You have to eat here a lot for that!” Dan agrees that the restaurant and bar patrons are spectacular.“ It’ s a really warm, inviting crowd, and you can bring your family in here. I’ ve seen a mix of young and old, and everyone gets along.”
Plenty of out-of-towners also have discovered Dan’ s, often driven by the beer selection. Hard core beer followers will call to see if certain beers are going to be on tap.“ Once we post on Facebook and Twitter what’ s going to be on tap, there are times we’ ll have 28‘ likes’ within 15 seconds,” Steve says. Dan’ s gets patrons from Chambersburg, Germantown, and Alexandria, Va., according to the management staff.
One of Dan’ s most unique and popular features is the illuminated menus used during the evening hours. Dan didn’ t want patrons to have to strain their eyes to see in the low-lit restaurant, so at night, menus with backlit LED lights are used. They recharge during the day and make reading easy for customers throughout the evening.
Dan’ s doesn’ t stop at offering great food and beer; the entertainment keeps patrons coming back too! Live music is offered on most Saturday nights in the bar area. During football, baseball, and basketball seasons, Dan’ s shows the games on big screen televisions placed throughout the bar. Beer tastings and other special events are being planned for 2013.
The future of Dan’ s Restaurant and Tap House looks bright.“ This town is being revived from this square out,” Steve says.“ I’ m pretty thankful for the Aufdem- Brinke family and the Roberts family for doing this. Boonsboro is my heart, and it’ s coming around. I want to help it become something that is good for the area. We’ re only going to get better!” §
