It's not hard to find people who have shown the consequences of choosing power over responsibility. Many people make the mistake of doing so, and made hisotry. These are just a few examples of the effect of power and how it can cause people to do some very crazy or disturbing things.

Adolph Hitler

Adolph Hitler will forever be remembered for his part in the Holocaust. But he did not start off as the evil, power hungry man who let his prejudice rule this thoughts. He became that man when he neglected his responsibility to get Germany back on it's feet during the Great Depression. He instead used his power to manipulate the German people into supporting his anti Semitic campaign. This resulted in the deaths of 6 million Jews, homosexuals, and other "undesirables".

Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon Bonaparte is one of many

controversial figures in history. Before he took power in France, it had a weak government and lack of stability. Napoleon at first, opened schools and seemed to be dedicated to France. However, he soon became obsessed with conquering more and more territory and declared himself Emperor. He soon neglected his responsibility towards the people of France and become more concerned with how much power he had than the welfare and freedoms of his people.

Frodo Baggins

Frodo Baggins starts off, on his journey with the responsibility to destroy the ring. However when the time comes to throw the ring into the fires of Mt. Doom, he forgets his responsibility to everyone he will help if the ring is destroyed and thinks only of the power he will possess if he keeps it. ALthough temporary, Frodo is corrupted by the ring and the power it possesses until he is snapped out of it.
