A NEW ERA IN GIVING TO UH ATHLETICS
Born and raised in Hawai‘i and a life-long fan, I know the reach and influence University
of Hawai‘i athletics has on the people of Hawai‘i. I have experienced the euphoria of an
undefeated football season, the pride of winning a volleyball national championship, and the
heartbreak of having one stripped away. The energy and excitement generated by playing
in the College Baseball and Softball World Series, and above all else, I have witnessed and
personally experienced the unifying and galvanizing power that a winning UH program has
on this state. Indeed, it often appears to me as if the mood of the entire state depends on
how the Bows did on Saturday.
University of Hawai‘i athletics finds itself at a crossroads. The challenges faced are real and
complex; and solving them will require honest change with an eye to the future. This will not
be easy but it is necessary. Notwithstanding the circumstances, ‘Ahahui Koa Ānuenue (“AKA”)
believes that our best days are ahead of us. AKA believes that we will see brighter days for the
fans, for the players, for the coaches, for the department, for the state. It is with this sense of
purpose and belief that AKA is proud to introduce its new H Club Athletic Fund. The specifics for
this new program are set forth herein and I welcome you to join us and embrace this new era
for AKA and UH Athletics. Mahalo for your support.
Let’s Go Bows!
