Vaaraahi Devi is one of the Ashta Maatruka Devathas . She is the commander-in-chief of the army of Sri Lalitha Tripurasundari . Vaaraahi is another form of Lakshmi . While Lakshmi brings auspiciousness , Vaaraahi removes inauspiciousness .
Vaaraahi mantra is a powerful mantra suggested in Srividya as a remedy for lack of peace , disturbed marital relationships , chronic illness and continued legal battles . Vaaraahi saadhana restores peace and harmony in life by transforming you to accept reality . One must take the Vaaraahi mantra deeksha from a Guru for proper saadhana .
A mystic underground Vaaraahi temple is within walking distance of the Vishwanatha Temple in the holy city of Varanasi . She is also the Kshetra Paalika ( protector ) of KaaSi along with Lord Kalabhairava . She is also known as PataaLa Bhairavi .
The temple is open only for 2 hours , from 5:30 am to 7:30 am and remains closed for the entire day . Following an age-old tradition , only the priests go down the steps to give a divine bath , decorate and perform rituals in Brahma Muhurta to Vaaraahi Devi who resides in the basement . Devotees can glimpse the Mother ' s face and feet through two holes in the roof .
Vaaraahi saadhana is a very important aspect of Srividya . Mother Vaaraahi protects all devotees who seek her grace and blessings .
