F
ramus might not be on your radar
if you live in the United States
but that’s changing. In the late
60s Framus became the largest guitar
manufacturer in Europe collaborating
with John Lennon, Bill Wyman (Rolling
Stones bassist), and numerous other
celebrity musicians. A commitment to
meeting artists’ growing needs with
innovative high-quality acoustic and
electric guitars has been their success
recipe for over 50 years.
Enter Framus’ new acoustic FD 28 SR
line. Eschewing a ‘one, all-purpose
guitar’ approach, they designed a quartet
of similar models each with its own
unique offerings. So whether strumming
songs around the campfire, at home,
recording in the studio, or rocking live
gigs, it’s easy to find just the right one
to fit your needs – sort of like getting
a custom-made guitar without the wait
time and extravagant price. Here’s the
lowdown: two finishes - satin and gloss,
and with or without electronics. Purely
acoustic models, “FD 28 SR VSNT”
(Satin) and “FD 28 SR VNT” (Gloss),
have a symmetrical dreadnaught body
style, while the acoustic electrics, “FD 28
SR VSNT CE” (Satin) and “FD 28 SR VNT
CE” (Gloss), feature a modern cutaway
to access higher fretboard territories
and sporty Fishman Prefix Plus-T preamp
electronics providing everything you
need to hit the big stage. I can hear the
crowds beginning to roar!
Today we’re checking out the “FD 28 SR
VNT” dreadnaught acoustic guitar. When
making your new guitar acquisition, tone,
looks and build quality are at the top of
the considerations list. But don’t let the
“made in China” label fool you. This is
a classy, hand-crafted instrument with
superior tone and tons of volume that
exceeds all expectations for an acoustic
made in the Far East. Much like the way
colors of a rainbow come together to
form a spectacular sight, the components
of the FR 28 SR VNT model bestow
