CLASSIC CORNER: GOT YA COVERED
Got Ya Covered
Kirk
Hammett
by John Stix
I’d do covers of Jeff Beck’s covers. “Let
Me Love You Baby” was the first guitar
solo I ever tried to figure out. I played it
horribly. At one point we were going to
do “Eight Miles High.” It was Cliff Burton’s
idea. We had a progression all worked out.
And we used to jam on it all the time in
the warm up room before the gig. It was
real heavy. ■

you’re gonna do covers. Here’s what you’d
play if you were jamming with Metallica’s
Kirk Hammett.
