n late 2016 Fender held a private
media event and Guitar Tricks Insider
was one of the elite few invited. The
showcase unveiled revised, reworked,
and retooled versions of their flagship
electric guitars and basses set to be
released January 2017. The new models
were equally impressive, but what gave
me chills was the American Professional
Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker
(humbucker-single-single). Plenty of
advancements bring the Strat to a whole
new level players will immediately dig,
featuring stunning tone, playability, and
functionality, without compromising its
rich history. Unparalleled tonal varieties,
additional overtones, and classic vintage
sparkle make it a perfect candidate for
rock, blues, surf, and country guitarists.
Like slipping into an old pair of shoes,
the new American Pro Strat HSS is
immediately comfortable. And let’s face
it: arguably there’s no other single-guitar
