ANGUS YOUNG
is the co-founder, lead guitarist, and co-composer for
AC/DC, Australia’s best known hard rock band. Since
1973 the four of them have been stomping the floor
rocking, and giving us classics such as “Highway to Hell,”
“Back in Black,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Dirty
Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” and “For those About to Rock
(We Salute You).” Being one of the most important hard
rock bands of all time, AC/DC have shown how just a
few chords and a solid beat can change the world. Their
opus Back in Black is often cited as the 3rd bestselling
album of all time. We asked Angus Young to give us
some essential listening and here is what he suggested:
1. Hard Again, by Muddy Waters
2. Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, by John Mayall
3. Yardbirds Greatest Hits, by Yardbirds
“Any old albums by Louis Armstrong. I love Louis
Armstrong in some of his early records. I like all that
Basin Street sound. It’s all up music. That Dixieland is
the most danceable music in the world to me. I can bop
till I drop.”
