hen we think of the actual music of
the The Doors, Jim Morrison usually
comes to mind. But we are wrong. Yes,
he was the vocalist and lyricist. But the music
of the Doors came from Robbie Krieger (guitar),
Ray Manzarek (keyboards) and John Densmore
(drums). The sound of the Doors was the sound
of the band. And their most indelible song was
written by Robbie Krieger. In fact, it was the
first song he ever wrote and the foundation for
the two-chord modal vamp that came from jazz
legend John Coltrane. ■
