e put the original demo on
the box set. With where
that song started and
where it finally wound
up, with the addition of John Hall and
Lowell’s part and my parts all blending
together, it became quite beautiful.
Did you hear all those guitar parts
when you were doing the song, or
was it building a foundation and
saying let’s see what we can
play with?
Let’s start with a good foundation and
build on top of it.
What was the genesis of the song?
Gordon DeWitty, who is a great modern
keyboard player. He played with Delaney
& Bonnie for a little while when Sam
(Clayton, on percussion) and Kenny
(Gradney, on bass) were with Delaney
& Bonnie. So I got introduced through
Sam. He lived not far from where Sam
and I were living on Laurel Canyon. We
