The American Red Cross’s
Influence on Resuscitation
Recommendations
The American Red Cross has been serving people in need for more than a century—their
initial training for lifesaving skills date back to the early 1900s. They have been involved with
preparing emergency responses of physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals from
their inception. They have trained millions in first aid and resuscitation, including more than
500,000 nurses in basic life support. Their work saves lives.
