Make sure to drive 45 mph, with some areas of 35 mph, and 25 mph in congested pedestrian areas. Unlike a state trooper or local cop, park rangers have carte blanche authority to write the ticket up to $1000 if they deem justified. Just take your time, go slow, and enjoy everything the Blue Ridge Parkway has to offer! There are parking garages in Asheville where you can use a credit card, but just in case those are full, don't forget to bring quarters to feed the parking meters for street parking. PSmeters only need to be fed from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm every day except Sunday. There is not a lot of traffic in Asheville. However, to make your trip more enjoyable, try to avoid Hendersonville Rd, Sweeten Creek and any streets around the Biltmore during the week between 7:30am - 8:30am in the morning and from 4:30pm to 6pm in the evenings. Weekends are not an issue.
