AUTUMN NATIONS CUP
BHC SAVE BEST
GAME UNTIL LAST
M
o Sheikh’s BHC Polo Team
captured the final trophy of
the 2016 season at Guards
Polo Club – winning the Autumn
Nations Trophy. This popular, late season
tournament – which this year attracted
14 entries – was back to its last-day-of-
the-season slot for finals day, much to the
delight of the spectators.
The final did not disappoint either. Mo
Sheikh, a popular Club patron, and his
team of young players – Jack and Ralph
Richardson and Tommy Beresford –
proved too strong for Simon Arber’s Four
Quarters Orange, who had dominated the
earlier part of the season at Smith’s Lawn.
BHC won the final 7-6, after some great
flowing play on the Queen’s Ground. Four
Quarters Orange did not leave Smith’s
Lawn empty-handed though as Jack
Berner was named Polo Magazine’s Most
Valuable Player.
With such a strong entry for this 12-goal
tournament, it was not surprising that the
sub final was equally competitive. Played in
brilliant sunshine, Mark Wadhwa’s Oakley
Court took the honours, defeating Jamie
Grayson’s SHP squad 9-7.
