The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology Issue One
Junior Fellowship Experience
The Junior Fellowship Experience (JFE) is a one semester opportunity for the student to
gain an in-depth understanding about a STEM field of their interest, perform appropriate
research or participate in a task/ project development, investigate professional sources of
information within the community, and present highlights of the experience.
Student
Spotlights:
"It's just not what most high-
school students get to do"
"When I was 16 years old I was working for a
local grocery store. It did not help prepare me
for what a possible career would be. The JFE
program is a beneficial opportunity for these
students to expose themselves to real world
situations and opportunities that are not
afforded to most juniors in high school."
Teacher Perspective:
Introducing Mr. Bill McAuliffe
Faculty Advisor
"I think that these internships are such
personal experiences. In terms of impressive,
it doesn't matter what applies to outsiders;
this program is designed to be where you get
out of it what you put into it."
