b r e n da n hodge Grade 10 I really wanted a lot of dramatic lighting for the show, to express different moods, and I think I helped achieve something in the atmosphere of the play that no other GSIS show has really done. m ya freeman winky kim Grade 8 Grade 10 I think the show was very complex and it was very interesting to see it develop from the beginning to the end. I think all 89 audio tracks added to what the audience felt when they watched the show, as it was very fun and playful. “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” was one of the most successful plays in GSIS. I was able to participate as the Technical Director and acknowledge the hardships of technical complexity. Some students and even teachers wish they could go back to being a child. The actors of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” were given an opportunity to live in the past, but it was not as easy as it looked. Developing characters in a main-stage production like “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” can be challenging for many actors. They experienced a huge challenge as they tried to be children again. “I just don’t necessarily remember what it was like to be a child”, said Jun Woo Kang, who played the role of Schroeder. “I had to change my voice a lot and I also had to make some facial expressions like a child, which is not usually shown in high school”, replied Jaime Suh, when asked about any difficulties in characterization. However, even amidst these boundaries, the actors showed dedication to improve and break their limits. “One of the things I did while I was preparing for my role was actually go to kindergarten classes and see how they behaved and how they acted in general so I could imitate it as much as possible”, stated Jun Woo Kang. “Well, of course, I had to use a lot of facial expressions that are not usually visually exhibited in high school,” said Jaime Suh, reviewing her challenges of the play. At the end of the day, the actors got what they wanted and learned something valuable. “It was really fun because when you are a child, you are not limited by what people tell you to do. You just do whatever you want. I felt really liberated”, said Jun Woo Kang, after the hard work. The actors’ journey to prepare for this production became a positive reminder to the actors that they could break their limits and accomplish anything with a little research and practice. 2 3 4 6 5 69
