Girls Soccer Coach The highlight of the team is they impressed me with how they understood and applied differ- ent playing strategies - it is an immense pride for a coach to see the players tactically control a game, and this is a huge thing to do for mid- dle school girls. We were also blessed to have Ms. Lyons as the assistant coach. She has been awesome with girls, always caring. She has done a great work with our goalkeeper, helping her develop and gain confidence. 1 Boys Soccer Coach I was very proud of how the team embraced our programs core values (unity, commitment, and discipline). I found the team to be very coachable as we grew a lot throughout the sea- son. The team worked together really well and learned to move the ball effectively throughout the season. I appreciated their dedication and discipline at practice and their strong bond with one another. 2 3 4 1. Monica Park, 7 8 10 11 5 Nicole Wang, and Eugene Jang gather 6 around coach Lyons during practice on Sept. 30 to discuss strategies and formations for the next jamboree. 2. Brian Lee stands in front of the goal and kicks to increase his accuracy of shots. Ryan Yi, who plays goalkeeper, for both lower and upper secondary soccer got ready to jump down on the ball and practice blocking shots. 3. Before beginning soccer practice, Johannes Ha warms by doing ‘Karaoke Stretching’. This is a type of stretch that targets the groin, obliques, abs, quads, calves, glutes, hamstrings, hip flexors, and outer thighs. 4. Woobin Cha practices kicking to increase his accuracy of shots in front of a goal. However, Woobin missed a shot in front of a goal and as a result he had to do push-ups. 5. Jonathan Lee and Eric Shin compete for the ball during Lower Secondary soccer practice. Jonathan Lee spread his leg in an attempt to take the ball away from Eric Shin. 6. Ghayeon Kim stretches before soccer practice. She did her hamstring split stretch to prevent any possible injuries. 7. After tying each other’s shoes Seohyun Min happily chases the ball. Once she receives the ball, she kicked it out of bounds. Ghayeon Kim then threw the ball in for her team. 8. Eugene Jang practices handling the ball with her feet. Goalkeepers need to handle the ball properly, so that when they receive it from the defenders they can pass it back. Monica Park helped Eugene by doing one bound soccer practice with her. 9. Julie Lee takes turns performing a drib- ble-shot during soccer practice. She dribbled towards the goal to take a close shot so she can kick the ball into the net. 10. Keito Uchiyama receives the ball and controls it by using his feet. One of the most fundamental skills in soccer is being able to control the ball well. 11. Kevin Ju looks for a person to pass the ball to as he plays an eight on eight game in preparation of the Soc- cer Jamboree. Kevin then passed the ball to Keito Uchiyama. 9 81
