James Ahn, junior, said cross country helped him in a way that was unrelated to sports, “When I first started cross country, I thought it was just about running. However, I was able to learn the skill of perseverance and apply it outside of running.” James further explained, that pushing past difficulties helped him replicate that behavior for his academic studies. “I learned to be happier,” exclaimed Julie Kim, freshman. “Coach Smith really wanted us to be positive so I just smiled a lot.” “I found cross country really difficult at first,” said Jenny Kim, freshman. Jenny explained that by pushing herself mentally and physically she was able to see improvement in her times after each meet. Even for top tier runners on the team, running continued to be a challenge. “Cross country is a never ending challenge,” said Ziho Hwang, Cross Country Co-Captain. “Every time you complete a goal for yourself, you undertake a new one. And every single time, you fight for it with the same intensity that helped achieve your last goal,” “Regardless of how fast or fit you get, it doesn’t change the fact that running is tough, hard, and tiring,” said Seungjun, Cross Country Co-Cap- g nishin after fi down everyone l o o c wang o although best every Ziho H ,s ir Kil and day as SEW to give the n e h p e et te g m S r a , s t fo e e t ick me t was on th ners did no Chadw ee un At the run.
