In 2017, the City of Sacramento struck a deal with Fortune 500 health

Construction for the new offices started in October 2018. The
City has agreed to pay Centene $9,000 per job for the first 1,500 jobs,
provided that the average salary of those jobs is at least $64,079. The
City’s investment is capped at $13.5 million. Centene’s headquarters is
expected to create a total of 16,326 direct and indirect jobs with annual
wages topping $1.1 billion, according to a press release.
“This is an historic period for Sacramento because we are going to
site the first Fortune 100 company here, with a minimum of 5,000 jobs,”
says Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg in a press release. “I will work
hard to build on this success. My mission as mayor is to do everything
I can to diversify this economy and help create more high-wage jobs.
“This expansion in Sacramento will bring thousands of high-paying
jobs to the region,” said Barry Broome, GSEC president and CEO. “Mayor
Steinberg and the City of Sacramento have shown unprecedented
leadership in making this region a competitive market for high-caliber
companies like Centene.”

In October, foodservice distributor US Foods announced a plan to bring
a 355,000-square-foot distribution center to McClellan with an estimated

“The expansion of the US Foods footprint into Sacramento is an important
investment as we continue to serve independent restaurant operators

Barry Broome, president and CEO of the Greater Sacramento Economic

win for the entire region. The new facility is projected to drive more than
$59 million in direct and indirect economic impact from the job growth
