When graphics, letters or images are placed too close to the logo, they can be very
distracting, therefore infringing on the level of recognition that the logo will receive.
For this reason an ‘Area of Isolation’ has to be established around the logo, the logo
should not be too close to the edge of the paper either. In other words the isolation rule
refers to the amount of space that must surround the primary identity or logo at all times,
this will allow the logo to remain visible.
The area of isolation is calculated with an “x” around the logotype. The x height
measurement is as shown in the illustration above. This rule may only be waived when
it comes to high impact display items such as billboards and banners.
