The honeybee – to some, the source of sweetness; to others it is the wax; but mostly the honeybee is the world’s most important pollinator insect. To GROWMARK the honeybee is a symbol of a small creature that does mighty work to help to feed the world. Not all we do originates from our corporate offices. GROWMARK has more than 9,000 employees throughout North America that we teach, inspire, and provide guidance to practice the GROWMARK culture. By encouraging sustainable efforts at the local level, we make our efforts more impactful and more meaningful to those who are touched by our practices. Pollinator Plots and Monarch Butterfly habitats. This twofold program engages not just farmers, but member cooperatives, retail divisions, and entire communities to establish 4 wildflower plots and milkweed growth to support honeybee and monarch butterfly health. Since 2018, more than 270 4-H groups, FFA chapters, and community organizations in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin have started pollinator plots with seed provided by GROWMARK. Since 2015, 65 FS cooperatives, retail divisions, and grain member companies have planted plots to encourage bee growth. Seedway, a wholly owned subsidiary of GROWMARK, headquartered in New York state sells self-contained bumblebee hives for customers to pollinate a wide range of open-field crops. Seedway also engages its communities through the donation of seeds to schools and other organizations.
