Launch of BP Mentoring and Tutoring Schemes with 30 schools and three Resident’s
Committees. 300 volunteer students were helping 450 pupils aged from nine to 14 years.
The largest single project in Singapore’s oil refining industry – the S$1.4 billion Residue
Catalytic Cracker (RCC) complex – was officially opened on 21 May. At the time it was the
largest single refining project in BP.
BP Singapore embarked on one of its most ambitious projects to date – a multimillion dollar
rebuilding programme to upgrade its retail network to a best-in-class category.
Air BP formed a joint venture company with Singapore Technologies – ST-Airport Services
Pte LTd (STAS) – was awarded a five year contract to supply the Singapore Ministry of
Defence’s (MINDEF) aviation fuel requirement at its 5 military air bases.
