BP Singapore’s first marine lubricants steel barge went into operation. It traveled and pumped
three times faster than the wooden barges used previously.
A Finance Unit was established in BP Singapore to act as a Regional Treasury and to provide
financial advice to BP companies in the Region. The Unit has expanded from its previous local
role and had a good working relationship with Group companies and International Businesses
which are active in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan and China.

A contract was clinched to supply all LPG requirements of the Ministry of National Defence
(MINDEF). The first lot to Pulau Tekong was delivered on 19 July.
BP Singapore was ranked third among the Most Outstanding Companies of the Year for
1986/87 after Singapore Airlines and Seagate Technology, in the Singapore 500 business
directory.
